Position: Admissions Coordinator
Location: Honolulu, HI
Pay: $22.50/hour
Experience:
- 2 years of administrative experience in the healthcare field required
- Previous experience as ward clerk, unit clerk or clinical clerk desired
Education: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
Type: Full-time; Contract
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Saturday's as needed)
Kahu Malama Nurses is seeking an Admissions Coordinator to join a growing and dynamic team!
Job Description:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with referral sources by attending marketing events and making presentations at senior centers, offices and healthcare clinics
- Develop ongoing relationships with hospital discharge planners, families and responsible parties to facilitate referrals and admissions
- Collaborate with department managers to meet budgeted census goals and track resident discharges/expirations
- Review, process and respond to referrals in a timely manner, forwarding them to the RN for assessment
- Handle inquiries about the facility's services via phone, email and in-person interactions
- Ensure all necessary medical documentation (UA, CBC, BMP, PPD, etc.) is reviewed for referrals
- Assist with insurance claims, obtaining initial authorizations and scheduling subsequent authorization requests
- Facilitate admissions by verifying insurance coverage, completing paperwork and coordinating the admission date
- Conduct campus tours and pre-admission orientations for potential residents and their families
- Follow up with referrals to address any questions and work with staff to ensure the facility meets ongoing referral needs
Position Requirements:
- Familiarity with medical terminology helpful
- Understand the healthcare billing process (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word and Excel)
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
- Possess leadership abilities, patience, tact and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
- Demonstrate autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities
- Must be able to read and write English to facilitate proper communication with others
- Must be licensed driver with an acceptable driving record
